0227 Productions presents 40ºPHI, a two part project consisting of 40ºPHI: Live Art in the Parks and the 40ºPHI: Live Art Expedition.

40ºPHI: Live Art in the Parks consists of ten performance dates set in NYC parks and public venues from September 2008 to September 2009.  40ºPHI: Live Art in the Parks serves as a Live Art laboratory and the foundation for part two of 40ºPHI, the 40ºPHI: Live Art Expedition, a traveling Live Art tour that will visit towns across the country which are parallel to NYC on the 40º latitude line in 2009.

40ºPHI shows are free to the public and take place in public parks and spaces along the 40º latitude line. Each performance date is planned as a tool to open a dialogue between an audience often possibly unfamiliar with Live Art and the artists. The 40ºPHI project seeks to support artists in the creation of work that can be accessed by the greater public and to bring art outside of its typical places of show, and thus demystify Live Art and its accessibility and promote interest in the art form. 40ºPHI will create an open channel across the United States of audiences for Live Art across the United States and support an integration of art appreciation into everyday life.

Zhenesse's Information Station

The 40ºPHI Information Station is an interactive audience self-esteem builder disguised as an information booth. People approach the 40ºPHI Information Station expecting to post a question and receive an answer, but instead
find that they are the ones with information, which is collected at the station. This alteration of expectations provokes further engaged investigations, encouraging interactions with art. Each unique artifact of information is called an Informational Inscription. Informational Inscriptions are collected along the 40ºPHI (latitude) line in New York
City, and then transmitted into randomly selected public library books in points along 40ºPHI across America in
Fall 2009.
